Falafel

These crispy falafel balls have the perfect complex spice profile.

Yields: 12-18 falafel balls

 

Ingredients

1.5 cups cooked chickpeas

1 red onion

3 cloves garlic (or 1 tsp garlic powder)

1/4 cup cilantro

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp olive oil

1.5 tsp cumin

1 tsp coriander

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp baking powder

2 tbsp flour, if needed

salt (1/4 tsp or so)

2 tbsp tahini

 

Instructions

1. Blend ingredients. Form into balls.

2. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Flip. Bake 10 minutes more.

 

Notes: The second time I made it they were way too mushy and couldn't be rolled into balls. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong. The next time I made them, they were fine.

1/2 cup onion

1/4 cup fresh parsley

1 tbsp flour

2 tsp cumin

1 tsp coriander

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp salt

 

Instructions

1. Blend ingredients. Form into balls.

2. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Flip. Bake 10 minutes more.
