Ketchup

This homemade ketchup tastes great and is easy to whip up. As an added benefit is has less than half the sugar of traditional bottled varieties.

Ingredients

1 cup tomato paste

1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

1/4 tsp mustard

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 cup water

 

Instructions

1. Blend ingredients until smooth. Enjoy!

Note: Stays fresh for at least 3 weeks.

 

Note 2: Maybe try a little less honey or apple cider vinegar

This ketchup is made from fresh tomatoes.

Yield: 2.33 cups

 

Ingredients

12 cups cored and halved tomatoes

2 red bell peppers

2 onions

4 garlic cloves

1 celery stalk

1 tbsp salt

1/2 cup dates

1/2 tsp cayenne

1 tbsp paprika

2 tsp mustard powder

1 tsp ground cloves

3-4 inch cinnamon stick

1 cup cider vinegar

 

Instructions

1. Cook tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, and celery until soft (20-30 min).

2. Blend. Return to pot. Add spices.

3. Cook until thick (30 min - 1 hour).

4. Add vinegar. Cook 30 minutes.
